Twelve Insights into Sustainable Transport

The Ontario Climate Consortium is hosting a discussion on sustainable transportation and is looking to convene municipal staff from across the GTA involved in sustainability, climate and transportation planning and policy, energy management and more.

As part of a speaker tour organized by Dr. Lyscak at the University of Calgary, Christian Hochfeld, Managing Director of Agora Verkehrswende, will be speaking to a recently released report that shows that carbon-neutral transport sector is achievable by 2050 without limiting personal mobility. This is the key finding of a report published in early 2017 by the Berlin-based think tank Agora Verkehrswende. The report has now been released in English under the title 12 Insights into the Verkehrswende (transport transition).

Hochfeld’s remarks will focus on the role that cities can plan play to promote sustainable mobility at the local level, in support of senior government level action at the federal and provincial level. This seminar will provide context and guidance to municipalities across the Greater Golden Horseshoe as they develop plans and policies to conform to the new Growth Plan, including Climate Change Action Plans and Transportation Master Plans.
