Green Spotlight:
Algonquin Power PlantThe Region of Peel’s waste-to-energy facility on Bramalea Road in Brampton utilizes solid waste to produce electricity from steam turbines. Waste steam from the facility is then sent down Bramalea Road to Norampac in Mississauga and used for recycling boxboard and cardboard. Algonquin Power and the Region of Peel are also investigating potential avenues for reusing a by-product of the incineration process, fly ash, in products such as concrete, asphalt and brick. |
