The people at the Cargill Foods’ Case Ready plant in Toronto are classic overachievers. In 2004, they set their sights on a 5 year plan to reduce natural gas by 15 per cent, water by 10 per cent and waste by 5 per cent; and then astounded everyone by exceeding these goals in a little over 18 months.
“We had some really good results,” agrees Jasko Turulja, Complex Manager. “Now, through Partners in Project Green, we want to share our experience, network with others and tap into other best practices so we can do more.” |

Partners in Project Green SME GHG Reduction Strategy Program – Call for Partner Companies |

In partnership with the Ontario Ministry of the Environment, Partners in Project Green is excited to announce a greenhouse gas reduction (GHG) program for small-to-medium sized enterprises (SME) in the Pearson Eco-Business Zone.
Funded with assistance from the Ontario Ministry of the Environment’s Go Green Fund, the Region of Peel, the City of Toronto, Toronto and Region Conservation Authority (TRCA) and the Greater Toronto Airports Authority (GTAA), the Partners in Project Green SME GHG Reduction Strategy Program is designed to help SMEs measure their GHG baselines, identify reduction opportunities and publish a strategy for action. |

The Charles Sauriol Environmental Dinner, celebrating the work of conservationist and visonary Charles Sauriol C.M., is one of Canada's largest, annual environmental events. This dedication has enabled the Conservation Foundation of Greater Toronto and the Oak Ridges Moraine Land Trust to save thousands of acres of environmentally critical lands for the health and well being of future generations. |

Government of Canada supports fuel efficiency in trucking industry |

The Government of Canada announced today a $1-million pilot initiative to encourage the use of fuel-efficient technologies for heavy-duty trucks. The initiative will partially fund successful applicants, up to $100,000, who install SmartWay certified technologies to increase fuel efficiency.
“Fuel efficiency in all sectors is important to our economy and the environment,” said Brad Trost, M.P. for Saskatoon–Humboldt, on behalf of the Honourable Lisa Raitt, Minister of Natural Resources. “By investing in fuel efficiency we will help the industry reduce fuel costs and contribute to a cleaner Canada.” |
