Partners in Project Green celebrates Earth Day

On Saturday, April 24th, Partners in Project Green celebrated Earth Day with a tree planting and barbeque in the Pearson Eco-Business Zone.

With the assistance of City of Mississauga and Toronto and Region Conservation Authority (TRCA) staff, over 150 volunteers from the Lowe-Martin Group, Unisource, Woodbine, Kuehne and Nagel, Bayer Inc., Molson, Tremco, Semple Gooder, Worley Parsons, Delta Toronto Airport West, Pratt and Whitney, and the Greater Toronto Airports Authority, planted 500 trees and shrubs along the Etobicoke Creek at Dixie and Derry Roads in Mississauga.

The planting complemented the over 1,000 trees and shrubs, and two wetlands that have been created along the Etobicoke Creek at Dixie and Derry since 2008.  The work completed by these companies will help improve local water quality and enhance habitat for animals within this portion of the Etobicoke Creek.

Funding for the restoration project was provided by Pratt and Whitney, Tremco and the Region of Peel.  Stay tuned for this fall's Partners in Project Green tree planting event.
