| Kids in Nature Corporate Challenge close to reaching its target for local schools |
|
The second year of the Kids in Nature Corporate Challenge is well underway and already the program has surpassed the reach of the program in 2011. Last year, 32 schools from priority neighborhoods surrounding the Pearson Eco-Business Zone were given the opportunity to experience the wonder of wildlife both within and outside of the classroom. In 2012, the goal is to reach 50 schools, and already local corporate leaders have stepped up to sponsor 34 of these schools! This exciting program builds on children’ natural passion for the environment and provides students from priority neighborhoods in our community the opportunity to experience the wonder of wildlife in their classrooms and then continue the learning at TRCA’s environmental education centres – something, that without the support of local corporate leaders, they would not have been able to afford. The Kids in Nature Corporate Challenge is a partnership between Earth Rangers, TRCA and Partners in Project Green and on behalf of all three organizations a big thank-you for support goes to Woodbine Entertainment, S.C. Johnson and Sons Ltd, Greater Toronto Airports Authority, Menkes, Pratt & Whitney Canada, Bentall Kennedy, Canadian Tire, Arla Foods, and Symcor.
