Hydro One Brampton and Sheridan College introduced the Ontario Power Authority’s new Audit Funding Incentive program at the Magna-Plastcoat facility at 26 Kenview Blvd on Thursday, February 2nd. This event was attended and supported by Remy Fernandes, President and CEO, Hydro One Brampton, Jocelyn Piercy, Dean, Faculty of Applied Science and Technology, Sheridan College, and Marek Poplawski, General Manager, Magna Exteriors & Interiors – Plastcoat.

With a rotating cylindrical body and a sleek profile, new trucks being test-driven by Waste Management look nothing like garbage haulers of bygone years. But then the company would probably bristle at the term since, for all intents and purposes, it has banished the word "garbage" from its vocabulary with its shift to a business model that focuses on reducing waste and recycling.

A knowledge gap threatens the mid-market’s ability to compete, and it’s the reason a Sustainability Boot Camp is aimed squarely at their business leaders.

The second year of the Kids in Nature Corporate Challenge is well underway and already the program has surpassed the reach of the program in 2011. Last year, 32 schools from priority neighborhoods surrounding the Pearson Eco-Business Zone were given the opportunity to experience the wonder of wildlife both within and outside of the classroom. In 2012, the goal is to reach 50 schools, and already local corporate leaders have stepped up to sponsor 34 of these schools!

In 2010, Jacobs & Thompson completed a series of heat reclamation and retrofit projects at its Toronto facility that resulted in annual energy savings of about 3,000 gigajoules (GJ).
