The consortium brings together a group of leading companies from the Pearson Eco-Business Zone to work together to become more cost competitive through reduced energy consumption.

Participants leverage each other’s strengths through sharing, learning and improving in order to achieve accelerated results in energy management. Each organization gets exposure to learn other member’s best practices and how to improve implementation in their operations. The results will be improvements in energy efficiency, while identifying innovative solutions to conservation by working together.

The consortium augments the abilities of the members by providing an expert facilitator and an energy metering and monitoring system to help participating companies maximize their success.

Consortium Format

The Energy Leaders Consortium will meet six times, each for a half-day, through 2012. Each session will be facilitated by an energy management expert and hosted by one of the consortium members. They feature:

  • A presentation featuring the energy efficiency successes and challenges of the host facility
  • A tour of the host’s operations, showcasing their key energy conservation initiatives;
  • Facilitated discussion that brings the expertise of the group to bear on the energy consumption challenges of the members
  • Insights and support on the development of an energy management plan for each member
  • The first three sessions will additionally include a formal training component on the development of an energy management plan that engages and addresses the needs of the whole organization

Benefits

The benefits for being involved include:

  • Ability to leverage the energy management best practices of knowledgeable industry peers
  • Expert support in the development of a tailor-made energy management plan that will embed energy performance across the organization
  • Access to sub-metering equipment and an energy management software platform at no cost.
  • Drive cost savings, while building organizational capacity for energy management

The Commitment

Member organizations commit to:

  • Assigning a primary and alternate staff member to attend the consortium sessions.
  • Complete an onsite energy management benchmark with the expert facilitator. The facilitator will seek to interview staff members to understand how energy management is practiced and perceived across the organization.
