Greening Greater Toronto’s Commitment to Buy Green program is an innovative effort to showcase and drive sustainable purchasing decisions among Toronto region organizations. The program was developed by Greening Greater Toronto’s Green Procurement Leadership Council, a group of 45 public and private sector purchasing executives, environmental experts, academics and industry representatives.

The commitment invites organizations to commit to:

• Developing and maintaining a green procurement strategy
• Assessing environmental performance of suppliers
• Monitoring and reporting publicly on progress

By signing the Commitment to Buy Green, companies can gain a competitive advantage over industry peers, reduce purchasing risks and generate savings through greener practices. And, just as important, by signing onto the Commitment to Buy Green, companies will gain public recognition through Greening Greater Toronto and Partners in Project Green's business networks.
