Children are passionate about making a real difference when it comes to the environment. Almost unanimously they identify the crisis facing animals as their number one environmental concern. But many students aren't given the opportunity to experience wildlife inside or outside of their classrooms. Often their neighborhoods lack the green spaces many of us are accustomed to and school field trip money is scarce. Unfortunately, many students from our community cannot afford to participate in such activities. In a recent Toronto and Region Conservation (TRCA) survey of 631 teachers, 81% of respondents identified cost or funding as a significant barrier to student participation in field trips. In response to this, TRCA and Earth Rangers, through Partners in Project Green, have teamed up to create a program to provide youth from priority neighbourhoods the opportunity to experience the wonder of wildlife in their classrooms and then continue the learning at TRCA's environmental education centres. Program Details:The Kids in Nature Corporate Challenge is designed to bring nature into schools to educate students about the threats facing our environment.
