Partners in Project Green (PPG) and the Ontario Aerospace Council (OAC) are sponsoring a Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) Dollars to $ense "Spot the Energy Savings Opportunities" workshop on March 1, 2012. The workshop identifies immediate opportunities that can help your organization save on energy use and reduce energy costs. The "Spot the Energy Savings Opportunities" workshop will help you understand energy basics and identify up-front savings opportunities.

The “Spot the Energy Savings Opportunities” workshop, energy solutions are identified in a checklist of opportunities. NRCan’s one day workshop gives attendees the knowledge, skills, and tools they need to recognize and implement opportunities involving energy use including:

  • reviewing energy basics
  • identifying and prioritizing your opportunities
  • evaluating the advantages of energy efficiency

Workshop Outline:

1. Introduction

  • Developing and prioritizing a list of low or no-cost energy saving opportunities
  • Establishing the benefits of energy management

2. Energy Fundamentals

  • Basic principles of thermal and electrical energy
  • Demonstration of energy system efficiency

3. Seven Steps to Understanding Energy Use and Finding Potential Savings

  • Understanding the cost of energy and how organizations are billed
  • Benchmarking energy use
  • Determining when energy is used – the demand profile
  • Identifying where energy is used – inventory of end uses
  • Eliminating energy waste
  • Maximizing efficiency
  • Optimizing supply

4. Checklist of Opportunities and Demonstrations
