GTAA Green Parking Lot Demonstration Site

To further improve the understanding of the types of green elements that can be implemented to deal with stormwater at a facility, Partners in Project Green is working to develop a Green Parking Lot Demonstration Site at the GTAA. The parking area will focus on highlighting:

• Permeable paving surfaces (with a preference of permeable concrete)
• Curb-cuts and vegetated bio-swales
• Native landscaping

In addition to these features, there will also be educational signage for the parking lot so those using it can learn more about the techniques utilized. The demonstration site will also serve as a marketing piece to promote the Green Parking Lot Program and the uptake of sustainable site practices with businesses in the Pearson Eco-Business Zone.

Construction of the demonstration green parking lot will begin in May of 2010.
