Unilever Canada becomes the largest commercial purchaser of green electricity in Canada 

Unilever Canada announced that it will become the single largest commercial purchaser of renewable energy in Canada, greening 59,000 MWh of electricity—enough energy to power more than 6,000 homes—through Bullfrog Power, Canada’s 100 per cent green energy provider. The purchase means that many of the products Canadians buy every day, including those from Becel, Hellmann’s, Knorr, Sidekicks, Ben & Jerry’s and Popsicle, will be made in facilities that are bullfrogpowered with 100 per cent clean, renewable power.

Unisource drives energy efficiency with lighting retrofit 

Since the installation of the Osram Sylvania lamps and ballasts, Unisource has seen impressive results. The retrofit project will provide them with an annual energy savings of 120kW load and 749,174 kWh, resulting in a $74,917 reduction in energy costs each year. The company has also seen significant savings in maintenance costs.

Vale Base Metals brings the wild back to the office

Vale Base Metals Technology Development in the Sheridan Research Park in Mississauga is a 10 acre site, 6 acres of which was comprised of planted trees and manicured grass. As part of its ongoing commitment to sustainability, Vale wanted to reduce its facility’s environmental impact by naturalizing the turf areas to increase local biodiversity and reduce turf maintenance inputs.

Awash Systems delivers productivity and water savings for truck fleet washing

To help water consumption and speed up the time it takes to complete to wash a vehicle, Awash Systems, who is located in the Pearson Eco-Business Zone, provides an interesting solution - their PowerbrushH20 system utilizes a vertical brush on a movable platform that allows the operator to wash the vehicle while walking around tractor and trailer. A thorough wash can be completed in as little as five minutes and use up to 80 per cent less water.
