A roof that needs replacing can be seen as an unwanted expense or as an opportunity to improve a building’s efficiency and durability.

New ground transportation programs studied for Pearson Eco-Business Zone

The term transportation demand management (TDM) may not sound exciting, but its benefits definitely are. WWF-Canada and the Ontario Power Authority are preparing to launch Living @ Work, an initiative that aims to support businesses in building their internal sustainability capabilities by motivating, educating, and engaging employees on critical and meaningful energy conservation issues.

The project grew out of the need to address recent findings, such as: simple behavior change within the office sector can generate real energy and cost savings; peer-to-peer engagement, guided by leadership and support at all levels of the organization, holds significant potential to enable a behavior shift towards a culture of conservation within the workplace; and, individuals place a low priority on electricity conservation due to lack of awareness and motivation, perceived absence of a collective commitment to conserve, and skepticism that the actions of a single individual have an impact.
