Purchasing Alliance will reduce energy retrofit costs for companies in the Pearson Eco-Business Zone
The Clinton Climate Initiative (CCI) will be working with Partners in Project Green to promote the use of the CCI Purchasing Alliance (PA) to businesses surrounding Toronto Pearson International Airport.
The CCI Purchasing Alliance is program to accelerate the adoption of energy efficient products worldwide. The PA negotiates reductions in the cost of energy saving technologies by leveraging the incremental sales opportunity provided by its partners like Partners in Project Green and the City of Toronto.
The PA encompasses a wide variety of mechanical and building envelope products. These technologies were selected primarily for their energy-saving and greenhouse gas reducing potential. Other factors include the lack of representation in the market, applicability to retrofit projects, and the needs of CCI’s partners.

Molson Coors releases corporate responsibility report
Molson Coors Brewing Company announced the release of its 2008 online corporate responsibility report, which provides a summary of the company’s 2008 and 2009 to-date performance and future priorities.
In 2008 and the first half of 2009, Molson Coors has achieved important milestones with its corporate responsibility initiatives including signing the UN CEO Water Mandate, implementing an environmental assurance process, establishing a governance and reporting structure and improving environmental performance - including a 12 percent reduction in CO2 emissions and a four percent reduction in water use.
“Molson Coors’ performance against these targets has been driven by embedding responsibility into the business, making it a part of everything we do,” said Peter Swinburn, president and CEO of Molson Coors Brewing Company. “We do this because corporate responsibility is simply good business. We manage it and measure it as a business initiative – not an ancillary project that can be set aside when other priorities arise.”

Trucks could even reach these fuel economy levels with readily available technologies like auxiliary power units, more efficient wide-base tires, and improved aerodynamic mechanisms, such as trailer side skirts.
